The hero of the story is U-1, an awkward young elementary school student ridiculed and scorned by his peers. Even his secret flame, Little Piko, despises him. His only friend and companion is his small dog Puma.

Gitaroo-Man Live! is a direct port of the original PlayStation2™ game, which was originally released in 2002. Music producer COIL and visual producer 326 have been part of the PSP™ port. The gameplay has been rebalanced and a Duet Mode for wireless 2-plater battles has been added.
